Report your summer send-offs
Alumni clubs around the country will be celebrating the start of new school year by holding Summer Send-Off events for incoming Ohio State freshmen in their area. If your group is planning an event, please send details to Nadine Holmes as soon as possible. Details include: Type of event (cookout, picnic, lunch, etc.); Time, date and place; RSVP information (club RSVP contact and RSVP deadline).

Social media tip: Use social media to promote summer send-offs
Summer send-offs are a great way to connect incoming students with alumni. Use social media to keep multiple generations of Buckeyes connected to your club or society.

-Create a Facebook event for your Summer Sendoff. Facebook events are a great way to both promote an event and introduce attendees to one another. Learn more about creating a Facebook event.
-On Twitter? Use it to promote your Summer Sendoff by rallying around the #new2OSU hashtag. This tag is used for incoming students, and is a great way to connect with new Ohio State Buckeyes. Learn more about using hashtags on Twitter, or check out Ohio State’s list of hashtags.
-Encourage Summer Sendoff attendees to keep in touch with your club or society on social media. This could include friending one another on Facebook, or encouraging both students and alumni to follow your organization on Facebook or Twitter.

For questions or more information on all things social media, contact the Alumni Association’s Michelle Morgan.

Share your group’s good work
Remember to share your club and society accomplishments and points of pride for consideration in Ohio State Alumni magazine. A new submission form makes the process simple and quick. The deadline is Friday, July 17, to have items considered for the September-October Buckeye Buzz page.
